Creation Stories

What defines this series for me is that the viewer is given an open ended image rich with possible interpretations, and more than a few bits of stuff that might look like emerging creatures or some cosmological event. This creates a link to the stories we’ve made to explain what we don’t understand, especially where we and our world come from.

The paintings are also about the process of their own creation, they start with gestural marks and active compositions in which elements interact to create implied relationships. The emergence of figures or cosmological events from the effects of flowing wax is encouraged but not planned.
